Vijay Deverakonda’s first-ever collaboration with Mrunal Thakur and his second with director Parasuram Petla came in the form of The Family Star. Following its disappointing reception in theaters on April 5, 2024, the film recently made its digital premiere on Amazon Prime Video last Friday, catering to Telugu and Tamil audiences. Though the film received a few trolls for some scenes, Family Star has been appreciated by the targeted audiences, Families.
As said above, despite receiving criticism, including trolling for a specific scene, the film has achieved the top spot on the OTT platform. It is currently trending at number one on Amazon Prime Video. This shows that the film’s content has struck a chord with the family audiences who loved the middle-class setup and scenes in the film’s first half. A section of the youth audience liked the foreign tour in the second half. Still, most of the audience enjoyed the interactions of Govardhan and his family, the character played by Vijay Deverakonda. The viewers on OTT especially appreciate the funny moments between Hero and his grandmother.
In addition to Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur, the movie includes Abhinaya, Vasuki, Rohini Hattangadi, Ravi Babu, Jagapathi Babu, Achyuth Kumar, and Vennela Kishore in important supporting roles. Dil Raju produced the film, which features music composed by Gopi Sundar.
