Vettaiyan has completed his first week at the box office. After having a good first weekend at the worldwide box office, the film suffered with a considerable drop in the numbers on the first Monday and continued to collect minimum numbers from then on. The cop drama had a grand worldwide release on October 10, 2024.
Vettaiyan collected 205 crore gross at the worldwide box office for seven days. The good thing is, Thursday’s numbers of the film are a bit better than Wednesday, and this indicates the film can have a good second weekend, which could help its box office prospects. Upon its theatrical release, Vettaiyan received decent responses from audiences and critics, though a few felt that the film missed the balance between the commercial elements and the message that it wanted to deliver. Many praised Rajinikanth for being a star hero; he did a film that talks about an ever-evolving issue in the Indian judicial system.
Vettaiyan deals with the concept of extrajudicial killings and their effects. Also, the film has a social message regarding an ongoing problem in society. Besides Rajinikanth, who played the lead role, the film also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Dushara Vijayan, Ritika Singh, Manju Warrior, Abhirami, and others in crucial roles. Anirdh Ravichander has composed the film’s music, and Lyca Productions backed it.
