Vettaiyan is struggling to maintain the consistency at the box office. The film was released in theaters worldwide on October 10, 2024, and opened to decent reviews. With the help of the super stardom of Rajinikanth, the film was able to put good numbers on its first weekend, but it saw a sharp decline in its box office collections on Monday.
The trade experts were taken aback by the drop of Vettaiyan collections on Monday as it came down below double digit. Tuesday’s numbers were even low as the film could get around 4 crore gross, taking the total six days total to 200 crore gross at the worldwide box office. The only good thing for Vettaiyan is there is now a big movie or any notable movie in Tamil getting released till Diwali, so it could fetch respectable numbers during the weekends. The cop drama has garnered nearly 80 crore gross at the Tamil Nadu box office, and it could achieve the 100 crore mark if not for a huge downfall on the coming weekend.
Vettaiyan deals with the concept of extrajudicial killings and their effects. Also, the film has a social message regarding an ongoing problem in society. Besides Rajinikanth, the film also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Dushara Vijayan, Ritika Singh, Manju Warrior, Abhirami, and others in crucial roles. Anirdh Ravichander has composed the film’s music, and Lyca Productions backed it.
