Animal is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated Bollywood films of the year. But director Sandeep Reddy Vanga recently revealed that a major scene between the two leads was cut during editing.
In an interview, Vanga shared that there was originally a kiss between Bobby Deol’s character Abrar and Ranbir Kapoor’s character Ranvijay. The scene involved Abrar kissing Ranvijay on the cheek and expressing regret over not spending time with his father. However, Vanga decided to cut the kiss, feeling it diluted the impact of a subsequent emotional scene where Abrar unzips his jacket.
Bobby Deol confirmed the kiss was filmed, but didn’t make the final cut. He hinted the uncut version on Netflix may include the kiss. While fans are eager to see the leads’ chemistry, Vanga clearly felt the unzipping scene carried more emotional weight. We’ll have to wait for Animal’s release to see if the director made the right call in service of the film’s overall storytelling. But the reveal of the deleted kiss certainly has us even more intrigued by the dark thriller’s plot!
