Thalapathy Vijay’s 68th film, The GOAT (The Greatest of All-Time), had a grand worldwide theatrical release yesterday, September 5, 2024. The fans eagerly awaited the film, as it was the second last movie of their idol’s career. Though the film received mixed talk, it did not affect its box office prospects as it opened with a whopping 100 crore gross at the worldwide box office.
In its homeland, Tamil Nadu, The Goat has collected 30 crore gross, and it is the fourth biggest opening for a film in Tamil Nadu. Interestingly, the other three films on the list also belong to Vijay. Leo is at the top of the TN openings, while Best and Sarkar stand in second and third positions. The goat also had a good opening in Karnataka and raised 9 crore gross. Kerala market is considered to be one of the biggest ones for Vijay, but the film received mixed reactions from the crowd, which affected the day 1 numbers. The film collected 6 crores gross. Vijay’s The GOAT also struggled to get good numbers in Telugu states, and it gathered a mere 3.5 crores gross. Including the numbers from the rest of India, the film’s domestic total amounts to 52 crore gross.
However, the overseas market gave The Greatest of All-Time an exceptional opening. The film collected a massive $6 million gross on its first day. So, if we combine all the numbers, The GOAT crossed the 100 Cr mark on its opening day. As it received mixed talk, we should wait and see whether the film can achieve the best mark (400 Cr).
