The GOAT had a decent day at the box office after a sensational opening day. Thalapathy Vijay’s 68th film crossed the magical number of 100 crore on its first day, though it received mixed reviews. The film trended much like its first day on day 2. The film became a big failure in the Telugu States, and the same can be said about Kerala. However, Tamil Nadu, the Rest of India, and overseas are helping The GOAT get good numbers at the box office.
In Tamil Nadu, The GOAT raised 22 crore gross on day 2, which is a good number considering the talk. The combined gross of the Telugu States and Kerala will be 2 crores, while the rest of the areas in India and Karnataka comprise over 6 crores. So for 2 days, The Goat’s gross collections in India will be around 30 crores. Overseas has given solid numbers to the film, and many areas are on par with the first day, and the film minted 25 crores here. The goat’s worldwide gross will be over 157 crores for 2 days.
The GOAT is expected to continue its good run in Tamil Nadu and overseas, while it has heavily crashed in the Telugu States and Kerala. Vijay’s recent movies did good business in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, but Venkat Prabhu’s directorial didn’t have much pre-release buzz and did not get good talk either. So it performed poorly from the opening show itself. The Hindi version had a decent opening, and if it gathers some momentum towards the weekend, the film can have good numbers.
