It is well known that the COVID-19 pandemic has hit the film industry very hard, and it continues to do so, particularly with the emergence of OTT platforms, which have adversely affected the cinema business. Post-pandemic, the renowned producer Allu Aravind, known for investing in grand-scale projects, decided to avoid risks and opted to observe how the industry would develop in the coming years. Consequently, he focused on producing limited-budget films.
However, observing the performance of grand-scale films and noting the success of Prabhas’ sci-fi project, Kalki 2898, which has proven profitable, Allu Aravind’s perspective has shifted after a strategic wait.
In a recent event, Producer Bunny Vaas confirmed that following Aravind’s thorough observation, plans for big-budget films are now underway. He unveiled the budget for Naga Chaitanya’s next project titled Thandel, directed by Chandoo Mondeti. Projected as a significant budget film in Naga Chaitanya’s career, the amount was initially undisclosed. However, Bunny Vaas revealed that Thandel, set against a backdrop of the sea and focusing on the life of a fisherman, will have a substantial budget of ₹75 crores.
