2024 promises a transformative journey for directors Shankar, Koratala Siva, Sujeeth, and Bollywood Director Rohit Shetty, who are resiliently bouncing back from the setbacks of their previous films. Koratala Siva, known for his impeccable success rate, faced a dip in his reputation with the release of Acharya, leading to a series of personal, professional, and emotional challenges. However, he is determined to rise above these hurdles and make a powerful comeback.
It is widely known that Koratala is currently working on Devara, featuring NTR, Janhvi Kapoor, and Saif Ali Khan. The production of this film has taken over two years to complete. Anticipation for the movie is soaring, with high hopes for a remarkable success and a powerful comeback from Koratala. Following the intriguing and triumphant Run Raja Run, Sujeeth leaped into the major leagues with Saaho. This marked Prabhas’ next project after the monumental success of Baahubali. However, the movie failed to meet even the most basic expectations. Despite a promising beginning, the film ultimately fell short and became a box-office disappointment. Sujeeth is now collaborating with Pawan Kalyan for OG, a gangster action film featuring Emraan Hashmi and Priyanka Mohan. It remains to be seen whether Sujeeth will be able to make a comeback with OG.
Shankar’s previous film, 2.0, performed well at the box office but was considered a commercial failure due to its high budget. The reviews were also average, not matching Shankar’s previous works. Currently, he is collaborating with Ram Charan on Game Changer, a project that has been in production for three years. Despite numerous delays, the film is close to completion and is scheduled for release in October 2024, provided everything goes smoothly. Several renowned directors like Raj Kumar Hirani, Trivikram, and Sanjay Leela Bhansali have faced setbacks in the post-pandemic landscape. It remains to be seen whether Shankar has evolved with the times and will introduce a fresh narrative style with Game Changer.
Rohit Shetty is regarded as the sole commercial filmmaker of Bollywood. By remaking a few big South hits like Singam and Golmaal Series, he established a good image among the masses. Rohit scored a big hit during the initial post-pandemic season in the form of Suryavanshi, which starred Akshay Kumar in the lead role, Ajay Devgn, and Ranveer Singh in Cameos. However, his next comedy film, with Ranveer Singh as the lead, Circus, failed to impress audiences and ended up being a big disaster at the box office. All eyes are now on his next film, Singham Again, which is the franchise’s third installment. The film stars Ajay Devgn as the protagonist and Arjun Kapoor as the antagonist, with Kareena Kapoor and Deepika Padukone playing pivotal roles. At the same time, Akshay Kumar and Ranveer Singh reprise their parts from Suryavanshi, and Tiger Shroff also enters this franchise with this film. So, all the directors mentioned above have their own goals to score for their upcoming releases. Now, we must wait and see whether they can achieve their goal or not.
