The success of “Irudhi Suttru” and “Soorarai Pottru” has catapulted director Sudha Kongara Prasad to the forefront of the film industry, making her one of the most sought-after directors today. Winning a National Award has further solidified her reputation, demonstrating that female directors can achieve remarkable success in this field. Kongara has set a powerful example, inspiring many women to pursue careers in film direction.
In the span of eight years, ever since the release of “Irudhi Suttru” starring Madhavan, Kongara has focused significantly on remakes of her own films in other languages. “Irudhi Suttru” was later released as “Guru” in Telugu, starring Venkatesh Daggubati. Following this, her film “Soorarai Pottru,” featuring Suriya, was recently remade in Hindi as “Sarfira” with Akshay Kumar. These successful remakes have showcased her versatility and ability to captivate audiences across different languages and cultures.
Besides remakes, Kongara has also contributed to episodes for web series on platforms like Netflix and Prime Video. However, fans have eagerly awaited her return to a standalone film project. It appears that she has finally locked the script for her next film, which will star emerging actor Siva Karthikeyan. Known for his dedication and hard work, Karthikeyan is set to collaborate with Kongara on his prestigious 25th project, a highly anticipated venture that promises to be a significant milestone for both the actor and the National Award-winning director.
