Stree 2, the latest horror comedy blockbuster, is just a few inches away from becoming the highest grosser of Bollywood. Even in the fifth week of its theatrical run, the film is still minting considerable numbers at the ticket windows as there is no potential competitor to it. The most-awaited sequel was released in theaters on August 15, 2024, and it paid premieres a day before the theatrical release. From then on, Stree 2 has seen an unprecedented run at the box office.
On Sunday (September 15th), which is the 32nd day for the film, Stree 2 has collected 7 crore net in India, and the total net collections at the domestic box office stand at 580 crore, with a gross over 684 crore. Shah Ruk Khan’s Jawan, which was released in September, stands as the all-time highest grosser of Bollywood with a domestic net figure of 584 crore. Stree 2 is all set to cross and become the new ATBB of the industry, and today being a partial holiday (Milad-Un-Nabi) will help the film gather decent footfalls at the theaters.
Stree 2 also created a record for highest collections for a Hindi film on its 5th weekend. The Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor starrer has gathered 16 crore net in its 5th weekend, beating Yash-Prashanth Neel’s KGF 2, which collected over 10 crore net on its 5th weekend. Stree 2 has two targets now. First it will cross Jawan’s lifetime numbers, and after that it will eye to cross the coveted 600 crore figure.
