Stree 2 has achieved a rare feat at the box office. The horror comedy became the first film in recent times to run for 50 days in theaters. In the age of digital platforms and wide theatrical releases, it became a rarity for any film to run over five weeks, but Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor’s film did the unthinkable and made history at the box office.
The exciting thing is, in its 50 days of theatrical run, Stree 2 only had one day when it collected below 1 crore net, which is an all-time record. On October 3, which happens to be its 50th day, Stree 2 collected 60 lakhs net, which takes its total net collection to 620.6 crore at the domestic box office. The film was released in theaters on August 15, 2024, and it was expected to be a successful film because of the sequel craze and good release date. However, no one expected Stree 2 to become an all-time biggest blockbuster of Bollywood and to enter the coveted 600 crore club.
Stree 2 is a sequel to the 2018 Super hit Stree, where Vicky and his friends fight against an evil power or ghost called Stree who kidnaps the men in their village, Chandheri. However, this gets a negative result as Stree 2 begins with the arrival of Sarkata, a headless demon who abducts the women from the village. Vicky and his friends once again plan a mission to end the danger for their village, and they also take help from Stree to end the mayhem of Sarkata.
