During a recent roundtable discussion, actress Sriya Reddy, who showcased her talent in Prabhas’ Salaar, revealed that she found Ponniyin Selvan confusing. Shobu Yarlagadda, the producer of Baahubali, suggested that preparing the audience in advance about the film’s world is crucial for their enjoyment.
Yarlagadda emphasized the need for filmmakers to provide context, stating, “If you present the world before and say that these are the characters and this is what you will see in the movie, the audience will connect well with the characters. There is nothing wrong in it.” Sriya Reddy concurred, admitting her struggle with understanding Ponniyin Selvan.
Shobu clarified that it isn’t necessary to reveal the entire story but recommended introducing characters. Sai Dharam Tej, also part of the discussion, shared how his Virupaksha team organized a character introductory event before the film’s release, featuring character names and outfits, to enhance audience engagement.
