Side Please!

After so much hype and attention, I finally got to see the Sapta Sagaradaache Ello franchise all at once as it’s available on Prime Video. Let’s delve into it.

Side A:

Well, for starters, the makers failed to create any magic between the lead pair, lacking the spark that would make the audience believe in their love. Opening the film with the characters already in love turned the narrative into a boring ride, particularly during the intense and depressing parts set in the central jail.

While the concept might bear slight similarities to Ravi Teja’s “Shock,” it remains limited. The extended jail sequences depicting depression and the hope of escape test the audience’s patience. The director could have ensured a deeper connection not only between the lead characters but also with the spectators, making it a more engaging emotional journey. Ultimately, the first part of the franchise proved to be a rather dull experience.

Side B:

The only positive from Side A was the characterization of the lead pair, but even that takes a hit within the first 30 minutes of Side B, as the protagonist enters into an unusual relationship, altering the meaning of a pure love story. The first half of the film becomes unbearable, improving only in the latter half when the unusual relationship takes a backseat, and the protagonist focuses on shaping the family life of his loved one. The film manages to have a decent climax.

Overall Verdict:

While the characterizations of the lead pair were well-designed, the film lacked the emotional bond. It impresses in bits and pieces but later falls short. Considering the hype, it’s a disappointing ride for me. Rakshit Shetty and Vasanth Ravi performed well.
