Shakhahaari: This Kannada Thriller is now available in Telugu

The Kannada thriller Shakhahaari took 2 months to transition from its theatrical release to a streaming platform. Two months later, the team decided to broaden the film’s audience by introducing a new language option. This week, viewers can enjoy Shakhahaari on Amazon Prime Video with Telugu audio.

Shakhahaari marks Sandeep Sunkad’s first venture as a director. It features Rangayana Raghu and Gopalkrishna Deshpande in prominent roles. Released on February 16, the film faced competition from various other Kannada movies at the box office. Although mainly receiving favorable reviews, Sandeep mentioned in a later interview that Shakhahaari did not manage to recover its production costs through theatrical screenings. Upon its release on the OTT platform, Shakhahaari received a positive response, with many online users expressing that it is a must-see movie and one of the top films of 2024. Similar to other recent films, some viewers regretted not watching it in theaters. All who watched the film praised the exceptional performances by Rangayana Raghu and Gopalkrishna Deshpande.

Regarding the film’s storyline, Shakhahaari centers around Subbanna, a small-scale chef who manages a local restaurant in his hometown. The humble establishment also serves as his residence. When a fugitive seeking shelter after being wounded by a bullet ends up in Subbanna’s home, he chooses to shield the individual from the authorities while caring for the injury. Despite Subbanna’s diligent care, the fugitive tragically passes away. The film delves into what Subbanna does with the body and the subsequent police inquiry. The film features Pratima Nayak, Nidhi Hegde, Vinay UJ, Sujay Shastry, and others in the primary cast. Sandeep and SR Girish are the writers of Shakhahaari, with music by Mayur Ambekallu being a standout feature of the movie.
