Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki Takes a Surprise Lead Over Salaar

Bollywood fans have been eagerly awaiting Shah Rukh Khan’s return to the big screen with the much-anticipated film Dunki, co-starring the talented Tapsee Pannu and directed by the renowned Rajkumar Hirani.

However, the buzz surrounding the film seems to be relatively low compared to the usual hype associated with SRK’s projects.

One of the main reasons for this might be the unique genre of the film, a comedy-drama that departs from the typical romance or action-packed themes usually associated with Khan’s films.

Additionally, the songs and trailer for Dunki have not garnered as much attention from netizens, who feel that the emotional depth of the film has not been fully revealed in the promotional material.

In a recent media interaction, Shah Rukh Khan hinted that Rajkumar Hirani has intentionally chosen not to divulge much about the plot in the trailer, maintaining an air of mystery and suspense.

Despite the initial low buzz, Dunki has taken a surprising lead over its competitor, Prabhas and Shruti Haasan starrer Salaar. In a turn of events, the ticket sales for Dunki have surpassed those of Salaar, even though the latter had generated considerably more buzz in the lead-up to their releases.

The Book My Show app reported an impressive 7.34K tickets booked for Dunki in the last hour alone, compared to Salaar’s 6.67K bookings. It’s worth noting that Salaar’s bookings have only recently opened in selected theaters, and bookings in both Telugu states are yet to be available.

The unexpected success of Dunki over Salaar can be attributed to the trust and faith that audiences and fans have in Rajkumar Hirani’s directorial prowess.

Known for his exceptional storytelling and handling of emotional narratives, Hirani has won hearts with films like “Munna Bhai M.B.B.S” and “3 Idiots.”

Dunki, slated for release on December 21, 2023, a day ahead of Salaar, promises to be a delightful comedy-drama that follows the journey of four friends from a quaint village in Punjab who share a common dream of going to England.

As fans eagerly anticipate the film’s release, it appears that Dunki may just be the underdog that steals the spotlight, reaffirming the audience’s trust in the magic of Rajkumar Hirani’s cinematic creations.
