Scream VI OTT Release Details

Scream VI is set to have a full-fledged OTT release in India. The 2023 slasher film is the sixth installment in the Scream series, following 2022’s Scream. It is scheduled to start streaming on Netflix on July 26, 2024. The movie is penned by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick and helmed by Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin. Returning actors from previous films include Melissa Barrera, Mason Gooding, Roger L. Jackson, Jenna Ortega, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Hayden Panettiere, and Courteney Cox. Newcomers to the cast include Jack Champion, Henry Czerny, Liana Liberato, Dermot Mulroney, Devyn Nekoda, Tony Revolori, Josh Segarra, and Samara Weaving.

The film’s narrative follows a new Ghostface killer targeting the survivors of the Woodsboro murders in New York City. In the latest installment, the survivors bid farewell to Woodsboro and embark on a new journey in the bustling metropolis. Having survived the Ghostface massacres in Woodsboro, four survivors seek a fresh start in the Big Apple. However, with a new assailant on the loose, they soon realize they are in a fight for survival. The narrative promises to be a thrilling continuation of the Scream series, with the survivors facing new challenges and dangers in their new environment. Production for the sixth installment of Scream (2022) began shortly after the highly successful premiere of the fifth installment. Many of the original cast members, including Bettinelli-Olpin, Gillett, Vanderbilt, and Busick, have returned to reprise their roles.

This marks the first Scream movie without Neve Campbell, who, due to a salary dispute, chose not to return as Sidney Prescott. Reports emerged in June 2022 that she would not reprise her role in the sixth installment. In a statement, the actress mentioned that her contract and wage discussions with Paramount Pictures had come to a standstill. Campbell expressed that, as a woman, she has had to put in a lot of effort in her career to prove her worth, particularly in relation to Scream. The offer she received did not seem to reflect the value she has brought to the series. Making the decision to move forward has been an extremely difficult one. She also stated that she has endless love for the Scream fans, who consistently show her unwavering support. Campbell expressed her gratitude to everyone for all that the franchise has brought to her life over the past twenty-five years, and she will forever be thankful. Her absence from the series is sure to evoke strong emotions among the fans, highlighting the impact of her character on the Scream series.
