Akshay Kumar returns to the big screen with his latest film, Sarfira. It is a Hindi remake of the 2021 National Award-winning Tamil film Soorarai Pottru, which features Suriya in the lead role. This time, Akshay is paired with Radhika Madan for the first time. Despite high expectations, the film had a lackluster opening at the box office when it hit theaters on July 12th.
According to trade experts, Sarfira commenced its box office run in India with a net collection of Rs. 2.55 crore. The film recorded an overall occupancy of 13.08% on Friday. Directed by Sudha Kongara, Sarfira is currently contending with solid competition from Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2 at the box office. We will have to wait and see if the film gains traction at the box office over the weekend. Since the actors did not actively promote the movie, its success now relies solely on word of mouth to draw in more viewers. Sarfira is also Akshay Kumar’s 150th film to be released in cinemas. Khiladi Kumar recently posted on his social media account, sharing some behind-the-scenes pictures of the film. In his post, he mentioned that Sarfira translates to crazy, and upon reflection, he believes he would have been crazy not to have done this film. Therefore, he is pleased that he decided to do it.
Apart from Akshay Kumar and Radhika Madan, the cast of the film includes Paresh Rawal, Radhikka Madan, Seema Biswas, R. Sarath Kumar, Saurabh Goyal, Krishnakumar Balasubramanian, Irawati Harshe Mayadev, Anil Charanjeett, Prakash Belawadi, and Rahul Vohra.
