Salaar’s Distribution Dilemma

In a remarkable triumph, Prabhas’s latest blockbuster, Salaar, has been winning hearts at the box office, with netizens showering love and praise. However, behind the scenes, the film is grappling with an unusual situation related to corporate bookings. Reports have surfaced that bookings for Salaar are being quietly opened without any prior intimation to distributors, causing a stir in the industry.

Amidst the chaos, the distribution team Lakshmi Narasimha Sri Manikanta Films, which holds the theatrical rights for Salaar in the East Godavari territory, has strongly condemned the situation. Taking to social media, they expressed their discontent, stating, “Screening of any show that was not scheduled by us is illegal & an offence. Legal action will be taken against those who schedule shows without our knowledge.” This highlights the serious repercussions of the corporate booking strategy, leaving distributors grappling with unauthorized screenings.

Adding fuel to the fire, instances have emerged where misinformation is being showcased in certain plexes. Distributors are particularly irked by the lack of communication, especially in cases where wrong information is being presented. This lack of transparency has led to a further divide between the production company, in this case, Homable Films, and the distribution teams, raising concerns about the ethical aspects of corporate bookings in the film industry.

As tensions escalate, the issue takes a broader dimension with major cinema chains like INOX Movies allegedly adding early morning shows across towns in Andhra Pradesh without informing local distributors. This move, particularly in the absence of Hindi shows until yesterday, has stirred controversy and further intensified the debate surrounding corporate influence in the scheduling and distribution dynamics of blockbuster movies like Salaar.
