There is internal fight between the TDP and Jana Sena in Vijayawada West Assembly constituency. Jana Sena leader Pothina Mahesh had been working here for the past five years with an eye on 2024 general elections.
Mahesh has emerged as the strong contender for the seat for the coming general elections. He worked hard and had reached the voters better than many of the leaders. He is a sure candidate and would win the elections hand down as he had become very popular in the last five years.
However, TDP leader and former MLC Buddha Venkanna had entered the fray staking claim for the seat from the TDP. He took out a rally the other day seeking the ticket for him. He is opposing the TDP giving the seat to the Jana Sena.
Venkanna took out the rally to Kanakadurga temple and submitted a representation to Goddess Durga seeking party ticket for him. He also sent a representation to party chief N Chandrababu Naidu seeking the party ticket from Vijayawda West Assembly constituency.
He said that the TDP would retain the seat and win it in the alliance with the Jana Sena. He said the party would keep the seat and would not give it to the Jana Sena in the alliance. He said that the party had suffered heavily over the years as they have been giving the seat to the Left parties in alliance.
Time had come for the party to retain the seat and win. He said he has the strength and popularity in the constituency to win the seat in the coming general election. He also discounted the claims of the Jana Sena leaders over the seat. He said that the party chief Chandrababu Naidu had promised the ticket for him from the constituency, and they would be no going back on the promise.
However, the Jana Sena leaders say that the constituency has to be given to them in the alliance. If the alliance has to work, they say that the seat has to be given to the Jana Sena. They say that Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan had promised the seat for the party and assert that they would get the seat and not the TDP.
It is to be seen what would happen to the seat with the two parties fighting for it and no party is ready to give up its claim.
