The re-release trend in the Telugu Film Industry has proven to be a tricky situation. While many films were hits during their original release, the same level of appreciation through re-releases is not always guaranteed. This situation is now affecting a couple of films that are hitting the screens again. Dhanush’s 3 and Prabhudeva’s Premikudu are making their way back to theaters. In the case of 3, the film was originally a box-office failure, but it later gained appreciation through digital platforms, leading to a positive reception for its re-release. Remarkably, this is the second time 3 is being re-released, and yet fans and netizens alike are showing immense love for the film, with special shows running full.
On the other hand, Prabhudeva’s Premikudu, which was a blockbuster during its original release and is still remembered for its popular soundtrack, is struggling to attract audiences. Despite previous attempts to re-release the film, the shows were cancelled due to poor bookings. This time, however, they are proceeding with the release despite the lukewarm response.
