Ravi Teja and Harish Shankar Cover Up for Mr. Bachchan

Independence Day 2024, which was anticipated as a treat for moviegoers with the long weekend offering notable films a chance to shine at the box office, has instead turned out to be a disappointing show. Both major releases, Ravi Teja’s Mr. Bachchan and Ram’s Double iSmart, have been outrightly rejected by the audience.

More than Ram’s Double iSmart, which had already garnered little buzz before its release, the impact has been even more severe on Ravi Teja’s Mr. Bachchan. This was unexpected, especially given the film’s massive buzz from its blockbuster album, energetic promotions, and the successful combination of Ravi Teja and Director Harish Shankar, reuniting after Mirapakay.

Upon its first screening, the audience criticized the film for attempting to remake Ajay Devgan’s Raid with poorly integrated commercial elements. This backlash led to losses for buyers who had heavily invested in the film to capitalize on the holidays.

Less than a month since its release, Mr. Bachchan has almost disappeared from theaters, with an OTT release date seemingly just around the corner. Reports indicate that to cover the distributors’ losses, Director Harish Shankar has returned 2 crores to the producer, and Actor Ravi Teja has sacrificed 4 crores from his remuneration to ease the film’s losses.

On the other hand, the losses for Double iSmart remain unaddressed, with the makers already in debt from their previous film, Liger. Double iSmart is now available for streaming on Prime Video.
