Rajkummar Rao’s Srikanth is now Streaming on Netflix

Nearly eight weeks after its cinema debut, Srikanth is now available for online streaming premiere. Netflix has started streaming the movie, featuring Rajkummar Rao as the lead character, from July 5, 2024,i.e., today after its May release earlier this year. The biographical film narrates the journey of Srikanth Bolla, the founder of Bollant Industries and a visually impaired entrepreneur. The movie, directed by Tushar Hiranandani, also stars Jyothika, Alaya F, and Sharad Kelkar alongside Rajkummar Rao. The film achieved moderate success at the box office.

This biography chronicles the journey of Srikanth, an Indian entrepreneur who gained recognition in 2012 for founding Bollant Industries. The company focuses on producing eco-friendly products and provides employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities and those lacking formal training. The main character of this story is a visually impaired individual hailing from Seetharamapuram village in Machilipatnam, which was part of Andhra Pradesh at the time. Despite numerous obstacles, he achieves remarkable success, as depicted in the narrative. In Hyderabad, his life takes a different direction when he enrolls in a special school and excels until his arrogance becomes a hindrance. Despite scoring a perfect 100 in science, his teacher Devika (portrayed by Jyotika) supports him in navigating the process of pursuing science as a subject. Following rejection from the Indian Institute of Technology, she motivates him to apply overseas. He becomes the first visually impaired student to be admitted to MIT, marking a significant milestone in his journey. Upon completing his studies, his girlfriend Swati (played by Alaya) encourages him to return to India and pursue his aspirations. With the guidance of his mentor, he establishes a computer institute, which unfortunately fails. Eventually, he partners with Ravi Mantha to establish Bollant Industries, a venture primarily employing individuals with disabilities.

In a recent conversation with the media, Rajkummar shared his experience working on a biopic about Srikanth. He mentioned that he didn’t extensively plan for the role as he found his current character in the film to be perfect. The actor’s primary focus is on portraying the character and telling the story, with exciting prospects ahead. A couple of years back, Rajkummar doubted his ability to portray Srikanth, but he successfully did so. Presently, the actor is more passionate and driven in his craft, ready to take on even more challenging roles.
