Upon the release of Kalki 2898 AD, Prabhas’ much-anticipated sci-fi epic, many aspects of the film have garnered attention from audiences and critics alike. However, amidst the mixed responses to various cameos, one standout performance that has quietly captured hearts is that of Raia, played by Keya Nair.
Keya Nair, making her debut as a child artist, delivers a memorable performance in the role of Raia. Despite sharing the screen with a star-studded cast, her character plays a pivotal role in the film’s narrative. Director Nag Ashwin adeptly harnesses her talent, ensuring Raia’s presence is felt throughout the storyline.
Raia’s journey alongside Rumi, and her crucial link to the enigmatic character Ashwathama, portrayed by Amitabh Bachchan, adds depth to the film. While some viewers might find the dialogue treatment repetitive, Nag Ashwin’s innovative approach to integrating futuristic slang, particularly through Raia, breathes fresh life into the narrative.
One of the most charming moments of Kalki 2898 AD occurs when Raia, in her innocent yet insightful manner, interacts with Ashwathama, saying, “Eeh Size Kalalu Kantunnaru Thaatha” (What big dreams are you having, Grandpa). This instance not only adds a touch of humor but also showcases the character’s endearing charm, highlighting Keya Nair’s ability to effortlessly blend into her role.
