Narsapuram MP K Raghurama Krishnam Raju has almost lost his seat for this election. He is now adjusted to contest for the Assembly elections. He lost the opportunity to contest the Parliament elections as he had been claiming for the past five years.Raghurama Krishnam Raju, who revolted against the ruling YSR Congress and its chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy immediately after the 2019 general election, had been making tall claims about his future course of politics. He made tall claims that he would return to the Parliament from Narsapuram seat.But now the seat was given to the BJP in alliance by the TDP. The BJP had nominated the party general secretary Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma from the seat saying a big no to the candidature of Raghurama Krishnam Raju. He said he would be contesting any of the three parties in the coming elections. Thus, the BJP had closed the doors for him.
Jana Sena too was not ready to give him the ticket. The Jana Sena fielded its candidates closing the doors for Raghurama Krishnam Raju. He was thus left with the choice of joining the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).
Beleaguered Raghurama Krishnam Raju thus met TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu at his Undavalli residence the other day and pleaded with him to give at least an MLA seat. The TDP chief is said to have tried to get the Narsapuram Parliament seat from the BJP and had offered the Eluru Parliament seat to accommodate Raghurama Krishnam Raju. However, the BJP refused to accept the changes in the seat sharing. Sources say that Chandrababu Naidu had finally offered the Undi Assembly seat for Raghurama Krishnam Raju. The Narsapuram MP is said to have pleaded with Chandrababu Naidu to accommodate him and had offered huge amount of money in return. So the deal was thus struck and the TDP had offered the seat.
The TDP would now drop three-time MLA Manthena Rama Raju and offer the seat to Raghurama Krishnam Raju. Sources indicate that Raghurama Krishnam Raju had also offered to compensate Manthena Rama Raju in terms of cash for which Rama Raju accepted.The deal was thus agreed and the TDP is likely to announce this in a day or two. Raghuram Krishnam Raju will now have to join the TDP and he is likely to join the party at the Palakol meeting of TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu.
