Raayan, an action drama movie featuring Dhanush in the main role, hit theaters this past Friday. This film is significant as it is the actor’s 50th appearance in a feature film. To add to the excitement, he took on the roles of writer and director for this project. Interestingly, the movie was given an ‘A’ certificate by the CBFC. The film garnered a significant amount of excitement among fans because of the reasons mentioned above, and though the film received mixed reviews, it is performing well at the box office. The film collected 32 Crores Gross in India in two days.
Raayan, which premiered last Friday with high anticipation, garnered positive feedback from both critics and moviegoers alike, particularly praising the cast’s performances, screenplay, and direction. However, the film faced criticism for its cliched storyline and a few underwhelming episodes and characterizations in the second half. However, the film became memorable for Sundeep Kishan and Dushara Vijayan as their characters shined despite a veteran Dhanush being present in the background.
Raayan had no other films to compete with on its opening day, and it performed admirably by earning a gross of INR 13 crore. On the second day, the film maintained its excellent performance, exceeding the figures of day 1 and gathering 19 Crores Gross. Furthermore, the advance bookings for the first Sunday are looking promising. Considering these factors, it is expected that Raayan will surpass the INR 100 crore mark in its second week and emerge as Dhanush’s highest-grossing film ever, surpassing Vaathi (2023) and Thiru (2022).
