Premalu (2024), a romantic comedy film starring Naslen and Mamitha Baiju, has become a sensation in Kerala and significantly impacted the Telugu market. With a worldwide gross of INR 135 crore, it stands as one of the highest-grossing Malayalam films to date. Such success has led to the film being dubbed and released in Telugu under the same title, a testament to its universal appeal.
Unsurprisingly, Premalu has garnered acclaim from viewers and industry stalwarts like Mahesh Babu and Rajamouli. The film has proven to be a commercial hit in Telugu as well. The streaming service ‘Aha’ has obtained the digital rights to the movie for an undisclosed sum. As per an official announcement on Twitter, Premalu has been streamed for a remarkable 125 million minutes on Aha. No other Malayalam film has achieved this level of success among Telugu audiences. A direct sequel named ‘Premalu-2’ was announced quite some time ago.
Made as a romantic entertainer, Premalu is all about Sachin (Naslen), a 24-year-old confused boy like any other boy of that age, who goes to Hyderabad for GATE coaching along with his friend Amal Davis, played by Sangeeth Prathap, after his Visa to the UK gets rejected.
