The 2024 Tamil movie Election, starring actor-director Vijay Kumar in the main role, can now be streamed on Prime Video. The movie was directed by Thamizh, who is also known for the highly praised film Seththumaan.

Election, a Tamil movie, premiered in cinemas on May 17. Following its theatrical run, the film can now be streamed on Prime Video. Starring actor-director Vijay Kumar, Election delves into the intricacies of the political landscape in Tamil Nadu, particularly focusing on the grassroots level. The movie depicts the journey of Nadarasan, the son of a party cadre, as he enters the realm of politics to defend his father’s reputation, which his own party tarnished. As he navigates through the election process, he becomes acquainted with politics’s dark and complex nature. Besides Vijay Kumar, the movie features Preethi Asrani, Richa Joshi, George Maryan, Paval Navageethan, and Dileepan. Produced by Aditya for Reel Good Films, the music is composed by Govind Vasantha, and the cinematography is done by Mahendiran Jayaraju. Stunt coordination is handled by ‘Stunner’ Sam, and CS Premkumar is the film’s editor. The film received a variety of reviews upon its release.

Thamizh’s second directorial work is the upcoming Election. For those interested, his debut film Seththumaan, which is available on SonyLIV and OTTplay Premium, is a must-watch. The film gained recognition in various film festivals for its impactful portrayal of food politics, a significant aspect of caste discrimination in Tamil Nadu and India. Seththumaan follows the story of a basket weaver striving to provide a better future for his grandson. When he is hired by a group of caste Hindus to cook pork, a dish typically looked down upon, the day unfolds as a stark reminder of the harsh realities faced. The project was supported by filmmaker Pa Ranjith.
