A major announcement for a new Kannada cinema title on OTT platforms still needs to be made this week. However, Namma Flix will add a film to its library, although it is not an exclusive release. Starting from May 10, Shreyas Manju’s debut film, Paddehuli, directed by Guru Deshpande, will be available on Namma Flix. This film is a remake of the Tamil movie Meesaya Murukku, featuring Shreyas Manju and Nishvika Naidu in the lead roles.
The film’s story focuses on Shreyas, the son of renowned Kannada film producer K Manju, who embarked on his cinematic journey with a movie where he portrayed an engineering student with a passion for music. The storyline revolves around his pursuit of this dream. V Ravichandran and Sudharani essayed the roles of his parents, marking their onscreen reunion after several years. Despite Paddehuli failing to make a mark at the box office, Shreyas starred in two more films – Raana, a commercial entertainer, and Vishnu Priya, an unconventional love story. While Raana came and went unnoticed, the release of Vishnu Priya is still pending. Although the film has been completed for some time now, the producers have yet to announce a suitable release date. Directed by VK Prakash, Vishnu Priya features Shreyas alongside Priya Prakash Varrier, who is making her debut in Kannada cinema.
The actor recently committed to several film projects, including working with experienced filmmaker S Narayan. Shreyas had previously contacted his followers on social media to inquire about the type of movies they would like to see him in. While many suggested that he move away from commercial cinema and focus on content-driven films, there was also a recommendation for actors from his generation to collaborate. Shreyas acknowledged this suggestion and mentioned that a project of this nature is in development, although he refrained from sharing specific details in order to ensure that everything is perfect. “Paddehuli” is now available on Namma Flix, while “Raana” starring Shreyas can be streamed on Sun NXT, both of which are accessible through OTTplay Premium’s Simply South pack.
