OTT Release: Audiences waiting for those three films

Certain movies fail so disastrously at the box office that only a few individuals have the opportunity to witness their downfall firsthand. Subsequently, some viewers eagerly anticipate the release of these films on OTT platforms, hoping to comprehend the reasons behind their disastrous performance. Three such films faced big failures at the cinema halls but could not set their OTT deals. Those movies are Akhil Akkineni’s Agent, Tiger Shroff’s Ganpath, and Superstar Rajinikanth’s Lal Salaam.

Akhil Akkineni’s Agent, a film that initially held promise and made a strong debut in theaters last summer, unfortunately met with a major disappointment at the box office. This underwhelming performance has now left the film struggling to secure an OTT release. Complicating matters further, disputes between the producer and distributors have added to the film’s challenges in finding a platform.

Similarly, the film Ganapath starring Tiger Shroff, which was released in the previous year, may not be available for streaming on any OTT platform due to its failure at the box office, as no platform seems interested in acquiring it. Though the film starred a veteran superstar like Amitabh Bachchan and star heroine Kriti Sanon, Ganapath failed to impress audiences and ended as a massive disaster at the box office.

Directed by Aishwarya Rajinikanth, Lal Salaam has been deemed as one of the major failures in Rajinikanth’s career, failing to make even a fraction of its budget back. The movie, which showcased Rajinikanth in a crucial role as Moideen Bhai, hit the screens in February. Initially, there were talks about the film being released on OTT platforms by April. However, this plan did not materialize for reasons that remain undisclosed. Speculations indicate that Netflix backed out of the agreement following the film’s dismal performance at the box office. Moreover, reports suggested that the movie was left incomplete due to missing footage, a fact acknowledged by director Aishwarya Rajinikanth herself. Given the current circumstances, it is possible that Lal Salaam may never be available on OTT platforms or satellite television. Rajinikanth and his fans would likely prefer to forget about this film entirely.
