It is not uncommon for real-life events to be portrayed in films, and director Dwarki Raghav was no exception, as he drew inspiration from one such incident. While his selection was intriguing, it also restricted the potential audience. Raghav chose to depict the true story of a woman from Bengaluru who severed her ex-boyfriend’s genitals after he ended their relationship and married another woman.
Three years ago, Raghav produced a comedy film featuring Ajay Raj as playboy Rahul, who abandons his girlfriend to marry a girl his parents chose. Despite his intentions to maintain his previous relationship, Rahul soon faces consequences when his ex decides to teach him a lesson. Critics reviewed the film, titled Ondu Ghanteya Kathe, as filled with adult humor revolving around the protagonist’s missing ‘saman.’ They also pointed out that the movie caters to a specific audience comfortable with risqué jokes. The movie will soon be available on an OTT platform, as Namma Flix has acquired it and will start streaming on July 5. The Kannada OTT platform has been consistently adding to its content library, which already consists of a variety of classic films starring Dr. Rajkumar, Ravichandran, and others, as well as more recent titles such as Ganesh’s Triple Riding, Adityaa’s Munduvareda Adhyaya, and more.
During a recent media interaction, Ajay, the protagonist of Ondu Ghanteya Kathe, expressed his initial doubts about accepting the role. He mentioned that the character didn’t align with his usual roles but acknowledged the artistic challenge it presented. Ajay emphasized the significance of conveying the film’s overarching message to a broad audience.
