New Batman Introduced in DC Universe, Separate from Pattinson and Affleck

James Gunn has unveiled the new Batman for the DC Universe, clarifying that it is neither Robert Pattinson nor Ben Affleck. Instead, the DCU’s Batman will be featured in “The Batman – Part II” with Matt Reeves, and Ben Affleck is set to direct one of the projects in the DC Universe. Robert Pattinson’s Batman will continue under the “DC Elseworlds” banner, with “The Batman 2” scheduled for 2025.

Affleck’s involvement in directing a DCU project was hinted at by Gunn, who revealed that Affleck expressed a desire to direct during a meeting in December 2022. However, it was confirmed that Affleck will not direct an origin movie.

The new Batman in the DC Universe will be inspired by Grant Morrison’s run on the character, particularly focusing on the introduction of Damian Wayne, Batman’s biological son. This storyline explores Damian’s upbringing as an assassin before Batman discovers his existence. The film, titled “The Brave and the Bold,” will also feature other members of the Bat-Family, though specific details were not provided. This portrayal marks a departure from previous live-action Robin iterations, offering a fresh take on the character.
