TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu promised to reduce liquor prices. He also promised higher quality liquor to be supplied by the state government.The TDP chief’s promise comes when his rival and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy promised higher quality health care and education. Jagan Mohan Reddy promised to invest more in education and health sectors in the next five years. He said that our students studying in the government schools and colleges would be able to compete with the global students.
Jagan Mohan Reddy has been emphasising on improving both health and education sectors. He wanted healthy and educated society and is planning to invest more on these two sectors followed by the agriculture sector.However, Chandrababu Naidu is focusing more on liquor sales in the state. He is promising quality liquor at affordable price. He alleged that Jagan Mohan Reddy had increased the liquor price from Rs 60 a quarter bottle to Rs 200. This was on the higher side and Chandrababu Naidu promised to lower it.Naidu is also promising quality liquor. However, it was Chandrababu Naidu who gave permission for the present liquor being sold in the state. It was in February 2019, that Chandrababu Naidu government issued permission for the liquor brands now available in Andhra Pradesh. Jagan Mohan Reddy neither cancelled them nor issued permission for new brands.
With these brands available in the market, the popular brands have disappeared from the state for the reasons best known to the companies and their dealers. Perhaps, they did not want the competition between the brands permitted by Chandrababu Naidu and their own brands.Whatever could be the result, Chandrababu Naidu promised quality liquor at cheaper prices, when Jagan Mohan Reddy promised quality health and education.
