The ongoing title conflict between filmmakers TS Nagabharana and Dinesh Baboo, who are both working on projects centered around the historical figure Kempegowda, the founder of Bengaluru, persists. Nagabharana’s latest film, titled Nadaprabhu Kempegowda, was unveiled today and features Dhananjaya as the lead. This marks the second partnership between the director and the actor. In the ongoing stalemate, Dinesh Baboo has successfully enlisted Upendra for his film Dharmabeeru Naadaprabhu Kempegowda. However, due to the lack of resolution from the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce, producer and composer Dr Kiran Thotambyle has filed a police complaint in this matter.
The conflict has taken a legal turn, with Dr. Kiran complaining at the Ulsoor Police station. He alleges that Nagabharana has engaged in an unauthorized copyright agreement with his movie’s producers, violating the Indian Penal Code. The complaint also implicated Nagabharana’s co-writer, Pratibha Nandakumar, in the creation of a fraudulent copyright agreement, further complicating the legal aspect of the conflict.
Nagabharana has claimed to have acquired the rights to the title on their behalf from the chamber. Once Dhananjaya completes his immediate commitments to Uttarakaanda and Anna from Mexico, his film will commence production. The actor has also committed to Halagali, a period film set during the Indian freedom struggle, which was initially supposed to be directed by Darling Krishna. Meanwhile, Upendra eagerly anticipates the release of his upcoming directorial venture, UI, a project that he has kept under wraps without revealing any details. According to the latest buzz in Sandalwood circles, UI is expected to hit theaters in September or October.
