Murder Mubarak OTT Review

Story:

An investigation is launched following a murder at an upscale recreational club in the country’s central city, unraveling a web of deceit and hidden truths as the case progresses and the list of potential suspects grows.

Performances:

The movie boasts an exceptional ensemble cast, featuring Sara Ali Khan, who effortlessly portrays a very calm-looking but weird rich girl. Vijay Varma is good, as always, while Dimple Kapadia, Karisma Kapoor, Sanjay Kapoor, Tisca Chopra, Suhail Nayyar, and Tara Alisha Berry fit well into their characters. Lastly, Pankaj Tripathi masterfully portrays ACP Bhavani Singh, a remarkably eccentric and eloquent Hindi-speaking police officer.

Analysis:

The opening of Murder Mubarak is a bit shaky but intriguing. It presents a list of upper-class archetypal figures in the club using names meant to summarize their personalities while a child searches for a cat named Prince Harry. On the following day, a murder happens in the gym area of the club, shocking everyone. The screenplay was decent, with a few convenient parts and a lethargic pace. The twists were not predictable nor stunning at the same time. The final half-hour was gripping.

Positives:

The perfect casting is the most significant plus point for the film. Every character has a reason to be a suspect in the murder and has a backstory to justify their actions. The satirical take on the lives and behavior of the rich class worked well for the film. Also, as said above, the last half an hour was convincing, where all the dots are connected.

Negatives:

The pace of the film is constantly slow, which is not suitable for a murder mystery. Yes, sometimes the drops in the screenplay should help when a big reveal arrives. But in Murder Mubarak, sadly, any twist had such a big impact as they were neither big nor bad, which does not provide the required intrigue.

Rating: 2.75/5

Last Line: Slightly sluggish but a decent thriller!
