Munjya 5 Days Collections

The horror-comedy film Munjya, featuring Sharvari, Mona Singh, and Abhay Verma, has performed impressively at the Indian box office. As per the box office trackers’ reports, Munjya has maintained a consistent pace even on weekdays, earning Rs 4 crore on the fifth day. The fifth day’s collection matches the previous day’s earnings for the movie.

Despite facing a significant release on Friday with Kartik Aaryan’s ‘Chandu Champion,’ Munjya is steadily approaching the Rs 30 crore milestone by the end of this week. Considering the fifth day’s numbers, Munjya has collected 28 Crores net in India. According to the trade experts, the horror-comedy had an occupancy rate of 17.68 percent on Tuesday. Munjya, in the Marathi language, refers to the Upanayana ceremony, also known as the holy thread ritual, which is typically performed during the adolescent years of Hindu Brahmin males. As part of the Brahmacharya rite, the young boy places a cotton sacred thread under his right arm and across his left shoulder. Following this, the Sod Munjya ritual marks the transition from Brahmacharya to a life focused on family. According to popular Hindu belief, if a man passes away unmarried after his Munjya ritual but before his Sod Munjya, he becomes a Munjya ghost. These ghosts are believed to reside under peepal trees or near wells, which is the inspiration for the Bollywood film.

The tale of Munjya, a legendary being from Indian folklore and mythology, unfolds through the perspective of a creature residing in Pune and the Konkan region of Maharashtra. It revolves around the mythical creature Munjya, who brings chaos into Bittu’s life (portrayed by Abhay Verma from The Family Man series). Munjya now joins the horror-comedy universe of Maddock Films alongside Stree (2018), Roohi (2021), and Bhediya (2022). If you happened to overlook the scene after the credits, Varun Dhawan makes a surprise appearance in Munjya, reprising his role from the film Bhediya. The actor shared a sneak peek of the audience’s reaction to the post-credit scene on his Instagram account.
