Mumbai high court gives a rude shock to Naidu

The Aurangabad bench of the Bombay high court had given a rude shock to TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu. The court refused to dismiss the FIR filed against Chandrababu Naidu and TDP leader Nakka Anandababu. The FIR alleged that both Chandrababu Naidu and Anandababu have abused and attacked the police officials on duty. They also attacked the police physically during their protest at Dharmabad in Nanded district, when they went to see the Babli project in July 2010.

Senior advocate Siddhartha Luthra argued that the jail superintendent had no right to register FIR and it was the responsibility of the police only. He also told the court that Naidu and others did not insult or attack the police officials.Siddhartha Luthra also told the court that during protests and agitations, it was common that both sides received injuries. He requested the court to consider this as part of the agitation and dismiss the FIR.

However, the court observed that several police officials were injured in the incident. The court also was in possession of the medical certificates of the police officials. They also have evidence to prove that Chandrababu Naidu acted handedly with the police.

The two-member bench led by Justice Mangesh Patil and Justice Sailesh Brahme told the advocate that attacks on the government employee and threatening him were not acceptable and they are crimes. Chandrababu Naidu and others have intentionally attacked the police officials on duty, the court observed. The court further observed that cases were filed against Chandrababu Naidu and others as per rules. They have verified the records and found that the cases are genuine and there was no question of dismissing the FIR.
