Story:

Anand Aka Mr. Bachchan (Raviteja) is a honest officer in Income Tax Department. He gets suspended as he raids on an influential person and when he reaches his hometown, Bachchan falls in love with Jikki (Bhagyasri Borse) his neighbor. When he is on the verge of getting married, Bachchan’s suspension gets cancelled, and he is promoted. His first job after receiving promotion is to raid on the house of Muthyam Jaggayya ( Jagapathi Babu), a powerful politician. The rest of the story is how Bachchan fights against all odds and takes out the black money from Muthyam’s house.

Performances:

Raviteja was usual and performed with ease in all the scenes. Bhagyasri Borse was gorgeous and made her presence felt in some emotional scenes as well. Jagapathi Babu, Tanikella Bharani, Sachin Khedekar, and others were alright. Satya provided some useful laughs with his timing.

Analysis:

Mr. Bachchan is a remake of Ajay Devgn’s Raid. The film’s director Harish Shankar took a few important chapters from the original part and added many changes to the story. Though his idea was great, he could not balance the entertainment and the intense parts. He was successful in handling a few mass episodes and funny moments, but the seriousness which should have been present in the second half was not present. The central point of the film does not get in sync with the commercialization.

Positives:

The introduction episode and subsequent scenes in the first half and a few humorous moments in the love track between the lead pair work well for the film. The interval episode and the first action episode in the second half and a few elevation scenes/dialogues for Raviteja also came well for the film.

Negatives:

Though the love track appears pleasing at the initial stages, it gives dragged feel after a while and because of that the main point of the film emerges very late. Even though the second half starts on a firm note, the momentum does not remain the same as the villain’s character was not great enough to give a tough fight to the hero. The unnecessary comedy parts hamper the flow in serious scenes near pre climax. Even the climax episode falls flat as director handled it in a predictable mode.

Last Line: Mr. Bachchan—An Average Mass Entertainer
