The long-awaited Mr. and Mrs. Mahi trailer has been released after a few sneak peeks. Contrary to the rumors suggesting that the movie showcases Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor as ardent followers of former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the plot takes an entirely different direction. It revolves around two passionate cricket enthusiasts who firmly believe that “Cricket is life, and life is cricket.”
The trailer reveals that Rajkummar and Janhvi enter a marriage arranged by their families and gradually get to know each other. It takes a little while for them to discover their shared passion for cricket. Additionally, we learn that Rajkummar’s character has a past of not being able to make it onto the cricket team, causing his father, Kumud Mishra, to perceive him as a disappointment. On the contrary, Janhvi’s character is that of a doctor. Still, her husband recognizes her exceptional cricketing abilities and encourages her to pursue her dream of becoming a cricketer, deviating from her parents’ aspirations. Overall, the movie “Mr. and Mrs. Mahi” narrates the tale of a married couple who uphold each other’s aspirations despite the challenges and conform to the expectations set by their families.
Sharan Sharma helmed the movie, collaborating with Nikhil Mehrotra on the script. This film marks the second on-screen pairing of Rajkummar and Janhvi after their appearance in the horror comedy Roohi in 2021. Scheduled for a big screen premiere on May 31, 2024, the film stars Mr. and Mrs. Mahi. For Janhvi, this will be her first release of 2024, while Rajkummar makes a return to cinemas shortly after Srikanth’s release.
