Though the concept is really good, the makers of the film did not approach it properly. Most of the time, the scenes were very slow-paced with no surprises or special moments to keep us engaged and eager for the next scene. It felt completely dead-paced.
The lead pair’s performances by Rajkumar Rao and Jaahnvi Kapoor are good, and their on-screen chemistry works well. However, the makers should have explored their relationship more by putting in some effort to develop their mutual understanding as a couple. Instead, their conversations feel like several days have already passed.
The interval scene brings all the elements together for the main plot. Hopefully, the screenplay will kickstart its pace and bring us some relief.
The film starts off on a promising note; however, it gets sidetracked when the protagonist’s intention is unveiled. Nevertheless, the patchwork scenes of the couple become the major highlight of the film, delivering a good message and leading to an interesting end to the climax.
The major aspect of the film that seemed promising was the importance given to both lead characters, rather than focusing on one while the other stands as mere support. However, a negative point was that Rajkumar’s character was slightly off the charts, as his characterization was not well designed, though the film delivers a good message towards the end. “A little bit of interest in sports could have worked, rather than just seeking attention.”
The patch-up scenes of the lead pair were one of the major highlights of the film. A little more emotional depth during the first half and more interesting scenes could have made it worth watching. Unfortunately, the excessively slow-paced screenplay spoiled the thrill.
Overall Verdict: The film is worth a watch, especially considering the lack of more interesting options elsewhere, but viewers should be aware that patience is necessary to sit through it.
