Karthi and Arvind Swamy’s Meiyazhagan is having a good run at the box office. The positive word of mouth is helping the film to attract as many audiences as possible towards the theaters. After a decent first weekend, the film collected good numbers on Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti as it witnessed a big surge of over 60%. The film has collected 42 crore gross in its first week at the box office.
Directed by Prem Kumar C, the emotional drama was released in theaters on September 27, and the makers also arranged a few special premieres for the media, and the response was fantastic. The film was released in Telugu as Sathyam Sundaram, but it was delayed by a day and was released on September 28 to avoid the competition with NTR and Koratala Siva’s Devara. The film also received superb positive reviews from Telugu audiences and critics.
Meiyazhagan (Sathyam Sundaram in Telugu) is produced by Suriya and Jyotika under the 2D Entertainment banner. Karthi and Arvind Swamy are in the lead roles, while Rajkiran, Sri Divya, Jayaprakash, and Devadarshini appear in other crucial roles. Govind Vasantha composed the film’s music. The film tells the story of a 40-year-old man who revisits his hometown after 22 years. There he meets a man who is his cousin and spends a day with him. What changes that day brought to his life is the main point of the story.
