Enter Christopher Nolan, the acclaimed director who has never before worked on a Marvel project. According to a reliable insider source, Nolan is reportedly being eyed to take the helm of Avengers 5, the highly anticipated culmination of the MCU’s Multiverse Saga.
The news comes on the heels of Jonathan Majors’ shocking departure from the franchise. Majors, who was set to play the lead villain Kang the Conqueror in both Avengers 5 and its sequel Avengers: Secret Wars, was fired by Marvel Studios on December 18, 2023, after being found guilty on domestic violence charges against his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari.
Majors’ firing has left a massive void in the MCU’s overarching narrative, one that Marvel executives are seemingly hoping a heavyweight filmmaker like Nolan can help fill. The Oppenheimer director is no stranger to ambitious, world-building blockbusters, having helmed critically and commercially successful films like The Dark Knight trilogy, Inception, and Interstellar.
