Mari Selvaraj is considered one of the top directors of Tamil cinema in this generation. The director has made a good image for himself with films like Pariyerum Perumal, Karnan, and Mamannan. He is currently busy shooting for his next film, titled Bison. Touted to be a period sports drama, the film features Dhruv Vikram, son of actor Vikram, in the lead role. At first, the movie was expected to be released in theaters in 2024 itself, but now it is being reported that Bison’s theatrical release has been pushed to 2025.
In a recent interview, Mari Selvaraj talked about the shooting process of Bison and its release date. According to the filmmaker, around 75% of the shooting of Bison has been completed till now. He also added that the remaining 25% shooting will be done by the end of 2024 or the beginning of 2025. Mari Selvaraj sounded very confident about the period sports drama resonating with audiences, adding that it has come out very well.
However, the director did not reveal much about the film’s story or the character of Dhruv Vikram. Set against the backdrop of a rural village from Tamil Nadu, the film also stars Rajisya Viayan and Anupama Parameshwaran as female leads while Lal, Pasupathy, Kalaiyarasan, Azhagam Perumal, Hari Krishnan and others in supporting roles. Nivas K Prasanna is the film’s music composer. Bison is backed by Pa Ranjith’s Neelam Productions in association with Applause Entertainment.
