Mann: Aamir Khan and Manisha Koirala’s Romantic Drama celebrates its 25th anniversary.

Indra Kumar’s romantic drama Mann, a film that has remained underrated despite its release 25 years ago in 1999, is now available for streaming. Starring Aamir Khan and Manisha Koirala in the lead roles, the film draws inspiration from the 1957 classic An Affair to Remember. With Anil Kapoor, Sharmila Tagore, and Neeraj Vora in supporting roles, as well as a cameo by Rani Mukerji, Mann is a must-watch for any movie lover. You can currently stream this gem on Prime Video and ShemarooMe, making it easily accessible for those interested in experiencing this unique love story.

The fundamental premise involves a man and woman who develop romantic feelings during the cruise but fail to appear for the reunion. Priya (played by Manisha) wins a luxury cruise trip from Singapore to India. Shortly after embarking, she encounters the charming playboy Dev (portrayed by Aamir), and the two quickly form a romantic bond. Both are already engaged, but not to each other. Despite being aware of this, they still plan to reunite a year after the cruise concludes. Dev changes his life path and becomes a successful businessman. With a bundle of excitement, he waits for Priya on the reunion day. Sadly, Priya does not turn up on D-Day. Why did Priya fail to keep up to her promise? Did Dev learn the truth behind Priya’s harsh decision? The rest of the film answers these questions.

After its release, Mann garnered positive feedback. Despite generally favorable reviews, Sanjeev-Darshan’s score has faced criticism for alleged instances of plagiarism. They were responsible for composing the score, while Sameer Anjaan penned the lyrics. Some have accused them of borrowing heavily from other artists’ songs without proper credit. For instance, Nasha Yeh Pyar Ka’s melody is said to be inspired by Toto Cutugno’s L’Italiano; Tinak Tin Tana is believed to be sampled from Iwan’s Yang Sedang Sedang Saja; Chaha Hai Tujhko’s lyrics are allegedly borrowed from S. A. Rajkumar’s Edho Oru Paatu in Unnidathil Ennai Koduthen (1998); Khushiyan Aur Gham is said to be sampled from Ricchi e Poveri’s Come Vorrei; and Kali Nagin Ke Jaisi is believed to be sampled from Dahmane El Harrachi’s Ya Rayah. Additionally, the opening forty seconds of Kehna Hai Tumse in Jars of Clay’s Liquid were reportedly cut.
