Mammootty’s Bramayugam crosses double digits in two days. The latest horror thriller made in black and white has seen a thunderous response at the box office. On the first day, the film collected 3.5 Cr Gross in Kerala, and on the second day, it saw a minor drop as it gathered around 2.5 Cr Gross. The best part is the occupancy was better from the matinee shows. The overseas collections are strong as the film collected more numbers than India on day 1. Bramayugam collected over 13 Crores Gross worldwide for two days, and the trade expects the film to join the Top-10 Grossers of Mollywood in the long run.
Rahul Sadasivan directs the horror thriller, which features Sidharth Bharathan, Amalda Liz, and Arjun Ashokan in crucial roles. The film’s first look was revealed on Mammootty’s 72nd birth anniversary. The first teaser was released last month, and the trailer was unveiled at an event in Abu Dhabi. Upon its arrival at the theaters, Bramayugam was received well by audiences and critics alike.
Recently, the film made headlines when Punjamon Illam, a Brahmin household in Kerala, filed a court case alleging that their family’s reputation was defamed due to their association with evil magic. In anticipation of the film’s release, Mammootty’s character name in Bramayugam was changed to Kodumon. Punjamon Illam filed a plea stating that their family has a historical background of engaging in ritualistic practices mentioned in the book ‘Aithihymala.’ The Kerala High Court closed the plea after the filmmaker assured that Mammootty’s character name had been altered to address the petitioner’s concerns. The makers have also applied to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to change the name of the lead character.
