Madgaon Express, the directorial debut of Kunal Kemmu, and Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, the directorial debut of Randeep Hooda, have been in theaters for a week now. However, both films have faced difficulties in attracting audiences. Interestingly, Madgaon Express has managed to outshine Swatantrya Veer Savarkar with its stronger performance. Madgaon Express has consistently outperformed Swatantrya Veer Savarkar at the box office, establishing itself as the undeniable victor in this clash, despite both films experiencing similar growth trends in their collections.
Swatantrya Veer Savarkar explores the life of Indian freedom fighter and politician V. D. Savarkar, featuring Ankita Lokhande as Savarkar’s wife, Yamunabai. On the other hand, Madgaon Express follows the escapades of three childhood friends, portrayed by Pratik Gandhi, Divyenndu, and Avinash Tiwary, during a journey to Goa filled with surprising twists and turns. Trade reports suggest that Swatantrya Veer Savarkar is projected to make around Rs 1.15 crore on its seventh release day, while Madgaon Express is anticipated to accumulate approximately Rs 1.20 crore. The total collections for Madgaon Express for 7 days amount to Rs 14 crore net, whereas Swatantrya Veer Savarkar has garnered Rs 12 crore net in India.
The producers of both movies have implemented a Buy 1 Get 1 promotion on tickets in an effort to enhance ticket sales and draw in a broader audience. This strategy is intended to drive more people to theaters and strengthen box office revenues. The performance of these films will be carefully observed in the coming days as the competition in the film industry intensifies, assessing how well they can withstand audience demands and industry obstacles.
