Luck: Imran Khan’s Debut Film Completes 15 Years

Fifteen years have passed since the debut of Luck, the action thriller. Released in 2009, the film marked Imran Khan’s third performance and introduced Shruti Haasan in her first feature film role. Luck also showcased Mithun Chakraborty, Sanjay Dutt, Danny Denzongpa, Ravi Kishan, and Chitrashi Rawat in significant roles. Those considering watching the movie on OTT platforms can stream it on Prime Video and ShemarooMe.

The movie takes place in a criminal underworld, where Karim Moussa (Sanjay Dutt), a gambler, recruits individuals with extraordinary luck from various countries to participate in a series of dangerous challenges to determine their luck. People from around the globe will place bets on the outcomes, and the winner who successfully completes the game will receive a prize of 20 crores. Luck, the 2009 action thriller directed by Soham Shah and produced by Dhilin Mehta for Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd, failed to impress both critics and audiences, resulting in a disappointing performance at the box office. In a previous interview, Soham Shah shared insights gained from setbacks, specifically from the film “Luck.” The director regretted casting Imran Khan as the “action hero,” as the audience did not connect with him. Despite this, Soham took responsibility for the film, acknowledging that it was his creation and his decisions. He also mentioned that while the film’s climax was theoretically promising, it did not meet his expectations. Nevertheless, he made some tweaks and continued forward. Soham emphasized that these experiences were not just his films but also valuable lessons, highlighting the importance of perseverance in the face of uncertainty.

A few months back, Imran reflected on his Instagram profile and recounted a tale involving Luck. He stumbled upon some old pictures of Luck and believed that others would appreciate viewing them. He posted a photo of himself surrounded by flames, mentioning that the umbrella shielded him from the sun but not the fire. While filming a scene, an explosion went off dangerously near him. Surprisingly, the explosion permanently connected him to the outside of a flying Cessna.
