Ajayante Randam Moshanam, the period fantasy film starring Tovino Thomas, is highly anticipated in the Malayalam film industry for 2024. Directed by newcomer Jithin Lal, the project is currently in the final stages of post-production. However, recent reports indicate that the film has encountered legal issues after a financier filed a complaint against the producers regarding financial matters. As a result, the film’s release in theatres, OTT platforms, and other deals involving Tovino Thomas have been postponed.
According to recent reports, Dr. Vineeth from Ernakulam, Kerala, has taken legal action against UGM Movies, the production company behind the Tovino Thomas starrer. Dr. Vineeth claims to have invested Rs. 3.2 crore in the production of Ajayante Randam Moshanam but was not given ownership of the film, as it was allegedly transferred to someone else without his knowledge. The Eranakulam sessions court has issued a stay order on all financial transactions related to the film, including theatrical rights, OTT streaming rights, satellite rights, and audio rights. As a result, the release of Ajayante Randam Moshanam may be delayed until the legal issues are resolved.
The movie, starring Tovino Thomas, who portrays the roles of Ajayan, Maniyan, and Kunji Kelu, was initially set to hit theaters in May 2024. However, the directorial debut of Jithin Lal was postponed to the Onam season of 2024 due to delays in post-production. There are also talks of shifting the release of ‘Ajayante Randam Moshanam’ to December 2024, as the team wants to prioritize the post-production of the VFX-heavy film without the burden of a looming release date.
