It has been previously stated that a short film centered around the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU), including films such as Kaithi, Vikram, and Leo, is currently in production. Actor Narain, who portrays the character of cop Bejoy in LCU, disclosed that he and filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj have been collaborating on the short film, which will delve into the beginnings of LCU. Recent updates indicate that the short film is set to be unveiled shortly, likely within the next few months.
LCU, a cinematic universe created by Lokesh Kanagaraj, showcases cop vigilantes from south India who are actively fighting against drug peddlers. Esteemed actors such as Karthi, Suriya, Kamal Haasan, Fahadh Faasil, Vijay Sethupathi, and Vijay have already become a part of this universe. Their characters have been explored in the films Kaithi, Vikram, and Leo. Lokesh and Narain have collaborated on a ten-minute-long LCU short film, which delves into the origins of this universe. For those unfamiliar with LCU, Suriya’s character, Rolex, has been established as the primary antagonist and the kingpin of drug trafficking. Parthiban, portrayed by Vijay, Dilli, portrayed by Karthi, and Vikram, portrayed by Kamal, are set to join forces to dismantle the drug kingdom. Recent rumors suggest that the short film, directed by Lokesh himself, is currently in post-production. Additionally, the film will feature other characters from the universe, played by Arjun Das, Kalidas Jayaram, Narain, and more.
Lokesh Kanagaraj is producing his upcoming movie starring the renowned actor Rajinikanth. This marks their initial collaboration, and a sneak peek of the film’s title will be unveiled on April 22. Sun Pictures is responsible for producing this film, while Anirudh Ravichander will be responsible for the music. There is speculation that actors such as Shruti Haasan and Sathyaraj will also be a part of this project. Following the completion of this film, Lokesh is anticipated to commence working on Kaithi 2, where actor Karthi will reprise his role as Dilli, thereby expanding the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU).
