Several new Malayalam releases will be released this week (July 29 to August 4), both in theatres and on OTT platforms. Below is the lineup of movies available for streaming or screening in cinemas.
Pavi Caretaker – Manorama Max
Dileep stars in the film, which revolves around Pavi, a residential flat guard and night watchman in Kochi, and his loyal companion, a labrador named Bro, as they find joy in the face of life’s obstacles. However, an unforeseen bond with his flatmate alters everything, exposing him to fresh perspectives on life and love.
Swakaryam Sambhavabahulam – Manorama Max
Annu Antony, Shelly, and Jeo Baby are the main actors in this suspense thriller. In the trailer, Jeo Baby portrays an enigmatic father who is being scrutinized in connection with the vanishing of his daughter’s partner. Naseer Badarudeen directed this film.
Brinda – SonyLIV (August 2)
Trisha will be taking on the lead role in the upcoming web series Brinda. This project marks her debut in the OTT platform. Directed by Surya Manoj Vangala, Trisha will be seen portraying the character of a police officer. The series will also feature Jaya Prakash, Aamani, Ravindra Vijay, Anand Sami, Rakendu Mouli, and Indrajith Sukumaran in significant roles.
Adios Amigo – Theatrical Release (August 2)
Nahas Nazar directed this complete comedy-drama in which two individuals, who are initially strangers, develop a friendship as they meet and embark on a journey together. Suraj Venjaramoodu portrays a character facing financial challenges, while Asif Ali portrays a carefree man.
Footage – Theatrical Release (August 2)
The cast includes Manju Warrier, Vishak Nair, and Gayathri Ashok. This movie marks the debut of found-footage storytelling in Malayalam cinema. The trailer suggests that this film will bring innovative narrative techniques to the industry. The creators of Footage describe it as a suspenseful story about a curious young couple.
Chithini – Theatrical Release (August 2)
Vinay Forrt, Amith Chakkalakkal, and Bengali actress Moksha are the lead actors in the film. The trailer for Chithini clearly indicates an intriguing horror narrative unfolding in a forest. In essence, it hints that moviegoers will be in for a terrifying experience at the theaters.
