This weekend is poised to give a blast of entertainment for Bollywood movie lovers and OTT viewers. While Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina’s Jigra and Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri’s Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video are set to be released in theaters on October 11th, the OTT platforms have readied a variety of content ranging from comedy dramas to action thrillers. Stree 2 (Prime Video): October 11
Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao’s Stree 2 was released this Independence weekend and became the all-time biggest blockbuster for Bollywood. After creating many records at the box office, this horror comedy is arriving on the OTT field. The film tells the story of Chanderi town people who fight a new demon named Sarkata, a headless devil, and they take the help of Stree, who once considered an evil force but later treated her as a deity. The horror comedy will be available for online streaming on Prime Video starting on October 11.
Khel Khel Mein (Netflix) – October 9
Khel Khel Mein, the comedy thriller, tells the story of a group of friends and their wives who decide to play a game at their reunion at one of the friend’s weddings. The game starts on a funny note, but everyone gets to know hidden secrets and shocking truths about each other. The film stars Akshay Kumar, Fardeen Khan, Vaani Kapoor, Ammy Virk, Taapsee Pannu, Aditya Seal, and Pragya Jaiswal in the lead roles. The viewers can stream the movie on Netflix now.
Vedaa (ZEE5)
Nikkhil Advani’s action drama, Vedaa, stars John Abraham and Sharvari in the lead roles. The film had a box office clash with Stree 2 and Khel Khel Mein and ended up as a failure at the box office. The film is set against the village backdrop and tries to show issues like caste discrimination, village politics, and misuse of power by local leaders. What happens when a girl from a lower caste decides to fight against the powerful people with the help of her coach is the main story of the film. The film’s exact OTT release date has not been revealed, but it is being said that ZEE5 will make it available for online streaming on October 11, or 12.
Sarfira (Disney+Hotstar) – October 11
Sarfira is a story about a common man who dreams of starting his own airline. He faces many obstacles in his journey but his determination grows even further as he progresses to pursue his dream. Akshay Kumar, and Radhika Madan appear as the leads in this film which has been directed by Sudha Kongara. Sarfira is an official remake of Soorarai Pottru starring Suriya and the actor also won the National Award for his performance in the film. Sarfira will be available on OTT from October 11, 2024.
